Dalori Takes Over As APC Chairman After Ganduje’s Sudden Resignation

Prior to becoming chairman, Ganduje served as Kano State governor from 2015 to 2023.

Abuja, Nigeria Ali Bukar Dalori, Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has assumed the role of Acting National Chairman following the abrupt resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje, a former Kano State governor, stepped down from the party’s top post on Thursday, citing the need to attend to urgent and important personal matters.

His resignation was conveyed in a letter addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, confirmed Ganduje’s exit and announced that President Bola Tinubu had directed Dalori to step in as Acting National Chairman, pending a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to formally fill the position.

Ganduje led the party from August 2023, following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu.

However, his tenure was marred by growing internal opposition, particularly over concerns that his appointment breached the APC’s zoning arrangement.

Prior to becoming chairman, Ganduje served as Kano State governor from 2015 to 2023.

In January 2025, President Tinubu appointed him as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and he is also reportedly under consideration for a non-career ambassadorial role.
