Zango is reportedly linked to multiple kidnapping incidents in the FCT and its environs
Abuja, Nigeria– A man declared wanted for alleged involvement in kidnapping has been apprehended by security operatives at the hajj camp in Abuja.
The suspect, identified as Yahaya Zango, was arrested on Sunday during the screening of Muslim pilgrims preparing for airlift to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
Zango, who resides in Paikon-Kore, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was said to have blended in with the Abuja contingent when he presented his travel documents.
Daily Trust reports that the arrest was made at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport hajj camp by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
“It was this afternoon during the screening at the hajj camp in the airport when DSS operatives apprehended him and whisked him away,” the source disclosed.
A senior official at the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who asked not to be named, also confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect had been on the run since a manhunt was launched by security agencies.
Zango is reportedly linked to multiple kidnapping incidents in the FCT and its environs.
However, authorities have yet to issue an official statement on his arrest.
