Fayemi Dismisses Senator Fasuyi’s Claim, Says Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Never Accused Him Of Misconduct
We categorically state that this claim is entirely false. At no time has Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan—or anyone else, for that matter—ever accused Dr. Fayemi
Abuja, Nigeria– Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has refuted claims suggesting that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had ever accused him of sexual harassment.
Fayemi, in a statement issued by his media office through Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, dismissed the allegations as “entirely false” and a misrepresentation of facts.
The controversy arose after Senator Cyril Fasuyi, representing Ekiti North at the National Assembly, made the claim during a Senate plenary, alleging that Akpoti-Uduaghan had previously accused Fayemi of misconduct.
“We categorically state that this claim is entirely false. At no time has Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan—or anyone else, for that matter—ever accused Dr. Fayemi of such misconduct,” the statement read.
The statement suggested that Fasuyi may have misrepresented facts in his attempt to defend Senate President Godswill Akpabio, eemphasising hat Fayemi had never been linked to any harassment claims.
Sajoh clarified that Fayemi’s interactions with Akpoti-Uduaghan were strictly professional, particularly during his tenure as Minister of Mines and Steel Development, when he handled issues related to the Ajaokuta Steel Company.
“For the record, the only professional engagement Dr. Fayemi ever had with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was during his tenure as the Honourable Minister of Mines and Steel Development, when he oversaw matters related to the Ajaokuta Steel Company,” the statement noted.
The media office urged Fasuyi to verify facts before making statements that could harm reputations.
