Bwala Makes U-Turn, Says: ‘My Anti-Tinubu Remarks Are Now Irrelevant’
When asked if he had changed his stance, he responded, “They are not relevant.”
Ikeja, Lagos State – President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Policy, Daniel Bwala, has dismissed his past criticisms of the president, saying they were irrelevant and motivated by his position in the opposition.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Bwala admitted that his previous attacks on Tinubu’s election and administration were politically driven.
“I criticised Tinubu’s election and administration in the past because I was in the opposition,” Bwala said.
“The opposition’s work is to criticise the sitting government and hold them accountable. My views changed after I met the President, and he saw a need to appoint me.”
Bwala was a vocal critic of Tinubu before the 2023 election.
He left the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its Muslim-Muslim ticket and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), becoming a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar.
At the time, he mocked Tinubu’s candidacy, comparing it to a “night of a thousand laughs,” and after the election, he labeled Tinubu’s victory as fraudulent, calling him a “president-select” rather than a “president-elect.”
Now serving in Tinubu’s administration, Bwala insists that his past statements no longer matter.
When asked if he had changed his stance, he responded, “They are not relevant.”
