BREAKING: Gov Makinde Approves Prince Abimbola Owoade AS New Alaafin Of Oyo
The new Alaafin is expected to continue the rich cultural heritage and leadership tradition of the Oyo Kingdom.
Ibadan, Oyo State – Governor Seyi Makinde has officially approved the selection of Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo, following extensive consultations and traditional divinations conducted by the Oyomesi, the kingmakers of Oyo.
The announcement, made in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, confirmed that Governor Makinde has endorsed the Oyomesi’s recommendation, resolving a period of uncertainty that followed the passing of the late Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on April 22, 2022.
Hon. Ademola Ojo, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, further clarified that the appointment of Prince Owoade marks the end of prolonged socio-political and legal disputes surrounding the throne.
The new Alaafin is expected to continue the rich cultural heritage and leadership tradition of the Oyo Kingdom.
However, Hon. Ademola Ojo has urged all residents of Oyo State to join the government in celebrating this historic occasion and to show their support for the newly installed Alaafin of Oyo.
The Commissioner expressed hope that the new monarch’s reign will usher in an era of peace, prosperity, and unity for the cherished Oyo Kingdom.
