BREAKING: Court Grants Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello N500m Bail In N110bn Fraud Case

Abuja, Nigeria– A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has granted N500 million bail to Yahaya Bello, former Kogi State governor, over allegations of a N110 billion fraud.
Maryann Anenih, the trial judge, delivered the ruling on Thursday, stipulating that Bello must present three sureties of equal bail value.
The judge noted that the sureties are required to be responsible Nigerian citizens with landed properties in Guzape, Wuse 2, Apo, Asokoro, or Jabi areas of Abuja.
“They must also provide two passport photographs and valid identification, including their National Identification Numbers (NIN).
Bello faces charges of criminal breach of trust involving N110,446,470,089, violating sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, 1963. These offenses are punishable under section 312 of the same law.
Meanwhile, the ruling follows a similar bail condition granted to the former governor last week by the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he was charged with money laundering totaling N80 billion.
