Delta Police Arrest Nursing Mother For Allegedly Murdering 10-Month-Old Baby In River

Ibuku confessed to the crime, disclosed that she disposed of her baby’s body in the river on November 31, 2024.

Asaba, Delta State- The Delta State Police Command has arrested Blessing Ibuku, a nursing mother, for allegedly murdering her 10-month-old child, Prevail Jonathan, by throwing the baby into a river after being mocked by her friends.

According to the police, Ibuku confessed to the crime, disclosed that she disposed of her baby’s body in the river on November 31, 2024

It was gathered that the incident came to light after a report was made to the police on December 4, 2024, about the missing child.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, confirmed the arrest to the newsmen on Tuesday in Asaba.

Olufemi said that the command  received a call informing them that a child’s body had been found floating at the Aviara community river.

He said when the dead child was brought to the station, it was discovered that it was the body of the same missing child.

“The suspect confessed during investigation that she threw the baby away because her friends and other girls were making jest of her that the child did not have a father.”

The police boss added that the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
