Kwara Central Residents Commends Senator Saliu Mustapha For Comprehensive Health Outreach

I’ve been dealing with diabetes for years, but the cost of medication has been overwhelming

Ilorin, Kwara State- Residents of Kwara Central have expressed gratitude to Senator Saliu Mustapha for his impactful medical outreach, which aimed to address the healthcare needs of the communities.

In partnership with the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Budo Egba, the comprehensive program was launched on Sunday, reaching all four local government areas in the district.

The four-day outreach offered free medical care in Oke-Oyi for Ilorin East, Tanke for Ilorin South, the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace for Ilorin West, and Alapa for Asa.

It provided treatment for a range of ailments, including malaria, typhoid, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, and other common conditions, benefiting thousands of residents.

However,  the initiative has been commended for improving access to healthcare, especially for underserved communities in the constituency.

Meanwhile, medical professionals conducted check-ups, administered medications, and provided health education to attendees.

At the closing ceremony in Alapa, the Chief Imam of the community, Alhaji Ahmad Ambali Abass, expressed profound gratitude to Senator Mustapha, described him as a God-sent benefactor.

He commended the Senator for recognizing the importance of healthcare in rural areas, highlighting that many residents struggle with ailments but lack the financial means to seek proper medical attention.

“Health is crucial, and what Senator Mustapha has done here is invaluable. Many people are suffering silently from various health issues but can’t afford to visit hospitals. This initiative has given them hope,” Alhaji Abass said.

A community leader in Alapa and one of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Anafi Abdulkadri, echoed similar sentiments and emphasized the long-term impact the outreach would have on the community, especially for those who were unaware of their health conditions before attending the event.

“The tests conducted have revealed a lot of hidden health challenges among our people, and now they can take the necessary steps to manage them,” Abdulkadri stated.

Another beneficiary of the outreach, Suebat Issa, shared her personal struggle with diabetes, explaining that she had been unable to afford her prescribed medications.

“I’ve been dealing with diabetes for years, but the cost of medication has been overwhelming. If not for this outreach, I wouldn’t have had access to the drugs I needed. I’m truly grateful to Senator Mustapha for his help,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Falilat Usman, expressed her relief and joy that both she and her daughter were able to receive medical attention during the program.

“It’s not just me, my daughter also got treated. This outreach has helped my family in ways I can’t describe,” she shared.

While reiterating the commitment of the lawmaker to the well-being of his constituents, Alhaji Ambali Adebayo, who is also the Director General of the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, emphasized that the four-day medical outreach was just the beginning of a broader plan to improve healthcare access and services in the Kwara Central senatorial district.

“This medical outreach is only the tip of the iceberg. Senator Mustapha is fully committed to ensuring the well-being of his people. More programmes focused on health, education, and economic empowerment are already in the works,” said Adebayo.
