Mob Beats Soldier For Allegedly Stabbing NSCDC Officer To Death In Oyo Nightclub Altercation

Ibadan, Oyo State- Tragedy struck in the Bodija area of Oyo State when a Nigerian soldier, identified as Abubakar, allegedly stabbed a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, Olapade Segun, to death following a heated altercation.
It was gathered that the incident reportedly occurred on Sunday following a confrontation between the two men, who had met days earlier at a nightclub in the Bodija area of Oyo State.
According to an eyewitness who spoke under anonymity, Abubakar brandished a dagger during the altercation and stabbed Segun.
However, the NSCDC officer succumbed to his injuries due to severe blood loss.
A Punch report revealed that a mob assaulted a soldier after he attempted to flee the scene of a deadly altercation.
According to the report, a soldier named Abubakar and an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) got into a heated dispute at a nightclub in the Bodija area of Ibadan.
In a fit of rage, the soldier allegedly drew a dagger and fatally stabbed the NSCDC officer, who later died from severe blood loss.
It was gathered that as the soldier tried to escape, an angry mob apprehended him and beat him severely. His colleagues eventually arrived to disperse the crowd and rescue him.
Another source confirmed that senior Army officers have been visiting the NSCDC state command to investigate the incident.
“I understand the Army has set up a panel to probe the matter, and senior officers have been to the state command regarding the situation,” the source added.
Efforts to reach Nigerian Army Public Relations Director, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered, and a message sent to him remained unreplied at the time of this report.
Similarly, Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC spokesperson, did not respond to multiple calls and messages.
