Police Nab Suspected Car Theft, Recover Stolen Vehicle In Jigawa

The suspect and the exhibit are immediately taken into custody for preliminary investigation.

Dutse, Jigawa State– Operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected car theft identified as Mahmud Adam, and recovered a stolen Honda CRV in the Gwaram Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement released on Sunday, June 16, 2024, by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the suspect was arrested following a report that the stolen vehicle was being driven to Maiduguri.

“On the 15th of June 2024 at about 2000hrs, information at Command’s disposal revealed that a motor vehicle a Honda CRV green In colour with reg no. DKD 10 AG, belonging to one Abba Yahya ‘m’ of Gano town, Dawakin Kudu LGA of Kano State was stolen, and the vehicle was reported to be travelling to Maiduguri,” the statement read.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Gwaram Division and patrol team were detailed.

‘’Consequently, the team mounted a robust stop and searched along Sara_Darazo Road by the new Gwaram town in Gwaram LGA.

“The vehicle in question was intercepted and the suspect one Mahmud Adam ‘m’ 43yrs of BUK Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State was arrested.

“Both the suspect and the exhibit are immediately taken into custody for preliminary investigation.

“Given that, Kano State Command has jurisdiction over the case, the suspect and the exhibit will be handed over to them for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.

“The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP AT Abdullahi, psc, commended the effort of officers and men and urged them to maintain the tempo.

“He made a further plea to the law-abiding citizens of the state to continue cooperating with the Police and to report any anomalies to the nearest Police Station so that swift action could be taken.”
