As the investigation unfolds, the public and music enthusiasts alike will be closely watching for updates on the circumstances surrounding MohBad’s death
LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State police command has taken Afrobeats sensation Naira Marley into custody for questioning in connection with the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as MohBad.
The development was confirmed by Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos police command, in a statement released late Tuesday evening. According to Hundeyin, Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, was detained to assist with their ongoing investigation into MohBad’s untimely demise.
While rumours and speculations have been circulating about Naira Marley’s possible involvement in MohBad’s death, this marks the first official action taken by law enforcement authorities in this case.
In a surprising twist, Naira Marley had pre-emptively announced his return to Nigeria on Tuesday via X (Twitter), expressing his willingness to cooperate with the authorities.
His tweet read, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
As the investigation unfolds, the public and music enthusiasts alike will be closely watching for updates on the circumstances surrounding MohBad’s death and Naira Marley’s involvement, if any, in the matter.
