94-Year-Old Man Arrested For Allegedly Raping Minor In Adamawa

He lured her inside and then proceeded to sexually assault her against her will.

The Police Command in Adamawa says it has arrested a 94-year-old man identified as Mohammed Abubakar, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old minor in Tappare ward, Ganye Local Government Area of the State.

The suspect in question, who has been recognized as an herbalist, reportedly followed a pattern of misleading young women by offering them sweet items. Authorities have stated that on August 12th, as the victim was walking past the suspect’s residence, he lured her inside and then proceeded to sexually assault her against her will.

The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters Ganye, by the mother of the victim.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the law enforcement agency, SP Suleiman Nguroje, conveyed that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed strong disapproval of the unfortunate incident. In response, CP Babatola has instructed the head of the Family Support Unit within the command to assume control of the investigative process and ensure the thorough prosecution of the perpetrator.
