43-Year-Old Man Remanded In Prison For Allegedly Raping Minor To Death In Kano

Kano State– A 43-year-old Kano man, identifie as Mannir Ibrahim-Abdullahi, has been remanded in prison on Monday, for allegedly raping a minor taken to him for Malaria treatment to death.

The suspect, who lives in Jaba Quarters, Kano, was arraigned on charges bordering on culpable homicide and rape before a Kano High Court.

The prosecution counsel, Mr. Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 1 at Jaba Panisau Quarters, Kano.

He stated that the victim’s father had taken the minor to Waraka Chemist, located in Panisau Quarters and owned by the defendant, for malaria treatment.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant raped the victim, resulting in her death.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Abba-Sorondinki noted that the offence violated Sections 221 and 283 of the Penal Code.

However, Justice Zuwaira Yusuf adjourned the case until December 9 for hearing.
