Jigawa Police Arrest 17 Suspected Armed Robbers, Motorcycle Thieves, 3 Vandals

Dutse, Jigawa State– Men of the Jigawa State Police Command have arrested 17 suspected armed robbers, motorcycle thieves and three vandals in different operations across the state.

Spokesperson of the command, ASP Abubakar Isah, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, said two locally made guns, eleven motorcycles, phones, vandalized wires and the sum of N303,000.00, were recovered from the suspects.

“The Jigawa State Police Command in its relentless efforts towards fighting crimes and criminalities in the state particularly motor vehicles and motorcycle thefts, the command recorded tremendous achievements in Dutse, Kazaure, Maigatari, Gwiwa, Malam Madori, Kiyawa, Birniwa, Garki, and Kaugama Divisions,” the statement read.

“On 20/11/2023 at about 1700hrs one Najib Muhammad ‘m’ of mobile base quarters reported at Dutse Police Station that, he parked his Lifan Ladies motorcycle in front of his house, unfortunately when he came out, the said motorcycle was missing.

Upon receipt of the report, detectives swung into action and the Police patrol team was alerted.

“On 21/11/2023 at about 1030hrs (1) one Adamu Ahmed ‘m’ age 20yrs, (2) Abubakar Ahmed ‘m’ age 23yrs, (3) Abdulhadi Ali ‘m’ age 27yrs, and (4) Garba Adamu ‘m’ age 28yrs all of Kwaimawa village Dutse LGA were arrested in possession of the said motorcycle.

On interrogation, the suspects confessed to having stolen the motorcycle.

When a search was conducted in the suspects’ premises, one disassembled boxer motorcycle was also recovered. The two stolen motorcycles were identified by their rightful owner.

“On 23/11/23 at about 1450hrs, the surveillance squad on credible information arrested one Liti Abubakar ‘m’ age 55yrs of Gada village Kazaure LGA, with unregistered Lifan Haojou Motorcycle, black in colour color Quarters Kazaure strongly suspected to be stolen,”

On investigation at Kazaure Divisional Police Headquarters, the suspect made a confessional statement and mentioned one Umar Gambo ‘m’ age 30yrs of Roni LGA as the person who brought the motorcycle to him.

When Umar Gambo was arrested, he also confessed to having the motorcycle from the Niger Republic. The said Liti Abubakar has been on a wanted list of the division as a habitual receiver of stolen property.

The spokesperson further disclosed that on 24/11/2023 at about 1430hrs one Isah Bajimi ‘m’ age 35yrs of Kofar-Arewa Maigatari LGA reported at Maigatari Police station that on the same date at about 1500hrs, he parked his royal Motorcycle valued sixty thousand naira (#60,000.00k) without a registration number at Kofar-Fada Jumu’at mosque and entered into the mosque, upon his return he discovered that his motorcycle was carted away by an unknown person.

 

On receiving the information, policemen on patrol were alerted. Fortunately, one Mamman Musa ‘m’ age 20yrs of Gangawa village Gashua LGA, Yobe State was arrested with the said motorcycle at Hadejia LGA trying to dispose of it.

 

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.

On 09/12/2023 at about 1800hrs, a team of Policemen attached to Gwiwa Police Station while on routine patrol, arrested one Aminu Muhammad ‘m’ age 30yrs of Ishiyawa village Zango LGA Katsina State in possession of a black cargo Ladies Motorcycle without Registration Number strongly suspected to be stolen.

On interrogation, the suspect stated that he bought the motorcycle from one Shehu at Danbatta at the sum of two hundred and eighty thousand naira (N280,000.00k) but no receipt, supporting documents, or agreement letter. Later the suspect confessed that he had stolen the said motorcycle at Danbatta.

On 02/11/2023 at about 0820hrs, one Abdullahi Muhammed ‘m’ of Bare Bari quarters Malam Madori LGA, came to the Police Station and reported that, on 31/11/2023 at about 2200hrs, he parked his motorcycle boxer red in colour in front of his house, valued at seventy thousand naira (#70,000.00k), when he came out, he discovered that his motorcycle was stolen by an unknown thief or thieves.

On receipt of the report, a team of Policemen swung into action and arrested one Abubakar Muhammed ‘m’ age 24yrs Bare Bari quarters Malam Madori LGA with the said motorcycle.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to having stolen the motorcycle.

On 06/12/2023 at about 2115hrs one Musa Yusuf ‘m’ age 27yrs of Katanga village Kiyawa LGA, reported at Kiyawa Police station, that on the same date, he parked his motorcycle boxer red in colour with registration number KNN 577 QJ Ogun, in Katanga village Kiyawa LGA, when he returned, he discovered that the motorcycle was missing.

A team of Policemen attached to Kiyawa Division arrested one Rufa’i Saleh ‘m’ 27yrs of Gurduba Shuwarin village, Kiyawa LGA with the stolen motorcycle.
Investigation revealed that the motorcycle was earlier stolen by the complainant together with the suspect in Lagos state.

 

On interrogation, suspects confessed to the commission of the crime. Effort is on to identify the rightful owner of the motorcycle.

Subsequently, on 08/12/2023 at about 1235hrs, a team of policemen attached to Kiyawa police station, while on patrol, arrested one Sunusi Sani ‘m’ age 24yrs of Damutawa village Jahun LGA who was found in possession of a red Boxer Motorcycle with registration number PKA 618 VY strongly suspected to be stolen.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to having stolen the motorcycle from Gurduba village Kiyawa LGA.

Later the owner was identified as Umar Ismail and the motorcycle was released to him on bond.

In another development, on 8/12/2023 at about 1025 and 9/12/2023 at about 1755hrs respectively, a team of Policemen from Kaugama and Birniwa while on patrol arrested (1) one Abdulkarim Alhassan ‘m’ age 19yrs of Garin Babale Kaugama LGA, (2) Chiroma Abdullahi ‘m’ age 35yrs of Tsamiya Quarters Nguru LGA, Yobe State, (3) Abdullahi Haruna ‘m’ age 30yrs of Birniwa LGA with armoured cable wire strongly suspected to have been vandalized and trying to steal it.

On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime.

On 07/12/2023 at about 1800hrs, one Zilkifilu Iliyasu ‘M’ age 30yrs of Dorai village Garki LGA, reported at Garki Police Station that on 05/12/2023 at about 0100hrs, a group of hoodlums numbering about eight, armed with dangerous weapons entered into his house and robbed him the sum of one million five hundred thousand naira (N1,500,000.00k), they later forced him to take them to his mother’s house one Hannatu Iliyasu ‘f’ age 50yrs of the same address, where they collected the sum of five hundred and thirty thousand naira (N530,000.00k), they also made away with two motorcycles.

On receipt of the report, detectives attached to Garki Division swung into action, where they arrested the following suspects namely; Abdullahi Umar ‘m’ age 28yrs of Majawa village, Warawa LGA, Kano state, Murtala Adamu ‘m’ age 30yrs of Danlasan village Warawa LGA, Kano state, Najari Sha’aibu ‘m’ age 30yrs of Magama village Gabasawa LGA, Kano state, Dalaha Bashir ‘m’ age 32yrs of Andawa village Gezawa LGA, Kano state and Nasiru Mayau ‘m’ age 30yrs old of Gagarawa village Ringim LGA.

When a search was conducted in their houses, two fabricated firearms, two motorcycles, one Infinix Android, and the sum of three hundred and three (N303,000.00k) were recovered.

On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence.

Upon completion of the investigation at SCID Dutse, all the suspects arrested will be arraigned in court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP AT ABDULLAHI commended the effort of officers and men of the command for the job well done. He urged the good people of the state to stick with new strategies adopted by the command, particularly in the state capital Dutse.

He further called them to report any strange face or suspected movement within their localities to the nearest Police Offices or Sister Security Agencies for prompt action and also to shun away from taking laws into their own hands.
