Diphtheria Kill Four Children In Nasarawa

Lafia, Nasarawa State– At least Four children have been reported dead in Nasarawa State after contracting the diphtheria disease.

Following the incident, the state government has begun tracing children who had contact with the deceased in order to provide them with medication.

During the State Social Mobilisation Technical Working Group meeting in Lafia, Ishaya Amegwa, the State Health Educator, mentioned that the state government is partnering with the World Health Organization for routine vaccination to prevent diseases.

“The Nasarawa State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organisation had started contact tracing of children who have been affected with the disease with the aim of offering them preventable medication.”

Regarding the circulating mutant poliovirus found in neighboring Plateau and Kaduna States, he stated that the state government has implemented drastic measures to prevent its outbreak.
