This surge in reported cases of wives physically assaulting their husbands is deeply concerning
Ikeja, Lagos State -The Lagos State government reports that, in the past year, there have been at least 340 instances of wives beating their husbands through physical violence.
The Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, presented the disconcerting statistics during a press conference, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the issue.
Vivour-Adeniyi disclosed that the agency had diligently compiled data from various sources to compile an accurate representation of the domestic violence landscape in the state.
“This surge in reported cases of wives physically assaulting their husbands is deeply concerning and demands our immediate attention.
“Domestic violence is a grave issue affecting both genders, and it is distressing to witness an increase in such incidents.”
She disclosed that the 340 male-reported cases of domestic violence perpetrated against men by their wives were between September 2022 and July 2023.
She, however, expressed worries over the trend, saying the agency “Is currently handling the cases with the aim to find an amicable resolution.”
