Kwara: 7-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Ilorin Domestic Well

The victim went to fetch water at the well and during the process of fetching one of his legs suddenly slipped off

Ilorin, Kwara State – The Kwara Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of a 7-year-old boy, Abdull-Haayi, who was drowned in a domestic well in the heart of Ilorin.

The take ugly incident place at about 5:28 pm at Yaa-Lateef House, Tinu Street, in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Spokesperson of the service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, said the brigade was summoned by one a neighbour Mr. Idowu.

“However, firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one Mr. Yussuf, a family member of the deceased,” he said.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness over the incident and urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities and should desist from sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells.
