Abuja, Nigeria–  The Supreme Court of Nigeria has clarified that scoring 25% of the votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is not a mandatory requirement for declaring a candidate as the winner of a presidential election.

The judge’s clarification eliminates any ambiguity regarding the 25% vote requirement in the FCT and ensures that presidential elections are determined by a comprehensive evaluation of votes cast across the entire nation.

It provides legal clarity on the issue and sets a precedent for future presidential elections in Nigeria.
