2023: Kwara PDP Drags Saraki Over Campaign Funds

Saraki is perceived as feeling “on top of the world” and not willing to listen to anyone.

The member of the opposition party in Kwara State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dragged its party leader, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to public ridicule over his refusal to account for the funds received for the 2023 general election campaign.

Afrika Eyes learnt how Saraki is alleged to have engaged in misconduct and is accused of not carrying people along, claiming that he owned the party.

Meanwhile, some executives and members of the party have demanded an account of how Saraki spent the campaign funds.

A source from the party who did not want his name to be mentioned expressed his displeasure on how Saraki’s alleged one-man show and attempts to cover up his atrocities, and deliberately refused to carry every executive member along.

“Saraki is perceived as feeling “on top of the world” and not willing to listen to anyone, it can be challenging to address the issue.

“No one dares to question him, he is always perceived as having a sense of superiority and acting solely based on his own interests, and leaving issues unattended to because is unconcerned about other people’s interests,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the PDP Youth Leader in Kwara, Mr. Dan Iya, said some persons have hijacked the roles of the state executives.

The youth leader, in a video obtained by Afrika Eyes, made a demand on how campaign funds were spent.

According to him, I don’t want people to misconceive the position of some of us in the Kwara PDP SWC. We are not fighting our leader Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

“The fundamental questions we are asking are: how much did we receive as campaign funds for the presidential election, who received the funds, and how was it spent? No fight. And if there is no fight, there shouldn’t be any reconciliation,” he said.

“These fundamental questions require answers. Anything short of it, count me out.

“Another thing is that we cannot be excos and some people are performing our duties. That is our position,” he added.
