20 Kidnapped Medical Students Rescued In Benue

Makurdi, Benue State- 20 medical students kidnapped in Benue State have been rescued, security sources have confirmed.

Channels TV reports that while the students have now regained their freedom, security sources indicate that details of the rescue operation remain sketchy at this time.

Security agencies, including the police, DSS, and military personnel, along with their equipment, were involved in the operation, supported by the Benue State government.

Although the students have regained their freedom, according to security sources, the details of the rescue operation remain unclear at this time.

The victims were reportedly travelling to Enugu State, passing through the Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue, when they encountered the bandits. They were en route to Enugu for a program and ran into the kidnappers around Otukpo.

The students, travelling in a convoy of two buses from the northern part of the country, were ambushed on Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m.

It would be recalled that a few days after their abduction, the kidnappers contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of ₦50 million for their release.
